NEW WORLD MECHANICS
During The Fog 2024: Lines We Draw a major portion of the Fog withdrew expanding the known world in the process.
This page contains everything a faction needs to know in order to interact with the newly uncovered lands.
Read it carefully and don’t hesitate to contact us if any questions may arise.
1. One-Time Homeland Mechanic for Non-Bulgarian Factions
1.1. Factions whose original homeland was located off the map prior to the lifting of the Fog are entitled to a one-time, free acquisition of territories – specifically, their native lands.
1.2. To be eligible, the faction must meet the following criteria:
- Have participated in at least one of the last two editions of The Fog LARP with a minimum of six players.
- Have participated in at least two editions of The Fog LARP between 2021 and 2024 with a minimum of six players.
Eligible factions include:
- Emerald Thorn
- Duchy of Vanor
- Federation of Sun Protectorates
- Kingdom of Tandriall
- Nova Vlahia
1.3. The number of home territories each faction may claim has been calculated based on the average number of territories and players. If you need more details on that, please contact us. The number of territories to be claimed is as follows:
- Emerald Thorn: 7 territories
- Duchy of Vanor: 11 territories
- Federation of Sun Protectorates: 15 territories
- Kingdom of Tandriall: 7 territories
- Nova Vlachia: 5 territories
1.4. The process for claiming home territories is subject to the following rules:
- Territories must be located in the general area of the faction’s “homeland” as defined by the existing lore (e.g., Nova Vlahia must choose territories in the north, and the Kingdom of Tandriall in the south; the opposite is not possible).
- Claimed territories must be adjacent to one another.
- In cases where two factions claim the same territory, the “first come, first served” rule will apply.
- Territories designated as “desert” may NOT be claimed.
- The names of the claimed territories may be changed by the owning faction immediately.
1.5. Territory statistics will be revealed after the territories have been claimed.
1.6. The deadline for claiming home territories is October 10, 2024.
2. Territory Purchasing
2.1. General Principles
- Territory purchasing will begin after the allocation of home territories as outlined above, once these territories have been indicated on the map.
- Any unclaimed territory on either the “old” or the “new” map may be purchased.
- The current cost of 12 gold per territory remains unchanged.
- The Kingdom of the Seven Hills may purchase territories at half price once this year, due to winning the arms race in the previous game.
- When selecting territories to purchase, factions should consider logistical feasibility (i.e. try to not be all over the map with random territories here and there).
- In cases where two factions wish to purchase the same territory, the “first come, first served” rule will apply.
- The names of purchased territories may be changed by the owning faction immediately.
2.2. Desert Territories
- Desert territories are available for purchase at half price to all factions.
- Scientists estimate that there is a 50% chance that desert areas may become fertile, though this will be revealed in the next game.
- Factions owning desert territories will roll additional dice for each desert territory to determine whether it has become fertile.
2.3. Statistics of territories in the βnewβ world will be revealed after the territories have been purchased.
2.4. The purchasing window for territories is from October 15, 2024, to November 1, 2024.
